Stephanie & Ian's Relaxed Garden Wedding – A Beautiful Celebration at Home

Every wedding is unique, but every now and then you get to be part of a day that feels extra personal. Last weekend I had the pleasure of providing the music for Stephanie & Ian's wedding, and it was one of those weddings that perfectly reflected the couple.
Rather than celebrating at a traditional wedding venue, Stephanie & Ian chose to host their special day at their family home in Stoke-on-Trent, with a stunning stretch tent creating the perfect setting for friends and family to come together.
There really is something special about a wedding at home. Surrounded by the people who matter most and celebrating in a place full of memories, it created a relaxed atmosphere from the moment guests arrived.
Setting the Atmosphere
Unlike many of my evening-only weddings, I was booked to provide background music before the evening party began, helping to create the perfect soundtrack while guests chatted, enjoyed a drink and soaked up the atmosphere.
It was a wonderfully chilled day, with no rush and no pressure—just everyone enjoying themselves in a beautiful setting.
The Evening Party
At 7:00pm, the evening celebrations really got underway.
The dancefloor soundtrack was built around 90s classics and Indie anthems, creating a brilliant atmosphere that suited the crowd perfectly. From nostalgic singalongs to feel-good party favourites, everyone enjoyed a relaxed evening of great music and plenty of dancing.
One of the best parts of being a wedding DJ is reading the room, and this was a crowd that loved those iconic tracks that everyone knows the words to.
Football Meets Wedding Celebrations
With England playing in the World Cup at 10:00pm, the evening took a slightly different turn!
Many of the guests headed into the main house to watch the match together before returning to continue celebrating. It added a unique twist to the evening and perfectly summed up how relaxed and enjoyable the whole day was. Weddings are all about creating memories, and sharing a big England match with family and friends certainly made this one memorable.
A Perfect End to the Day
We continued the celebrations until midnight, bringing a fantastic day to a close.
Stephanie & Ian created exactly the kind of wedding they wanted—laid-back, personal and centred around the people closest to them. It was an honour to provide the soundtrack for such a special occasion, and I'm so grateful they chose DJ Wilkes to be part of it.
