Mr & Mrs Mickler – An Unforgettable House Music Wedding at The Abbey Hotel, Bath

Some weddings completely break away from tradition, and Josh & Lucy Mickler's wedding was exactly that. From the very first dance to the final track of the night, this celebration was built around one thing – great house music.
Held at the stunning Abbey Hotel in Bath, this was one of those weddings that reminded me why I love being a wedding DJ. The music, the atmosphere and the energy from the guests all combined to create an unforgettable evening.
An Intimate Setting with Incredible Atmosphere
The evening reception took place in one of the Abbey Hotel's unique basement event spaces, creating a really intimate setting for around 50–100 guests.
With everyone close together, it didn't take long for the room to come alive. The smaller guest numbers actually made the atmosphere even better, with everyone sharing the dancefloor together from the very beginning.
Sometimes it's not about having the biggest wedding—it's about having the right people in the room, and Josh & Lucy certainly did.
A Wedding Built Around House Music
The evening celebrations began at 8:00pm with a beautiful first dance.
Josh & Lucy chose:

A first dance that perfectly reflected the couple and immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Unlike many weddings, guests were politely asked not to make song requests. Instead, Josh & Lucy had spent time creating their own playlist, trusting me to blend their favourite tracks with my own music knowledge to keep the dancefloor full all night long.
It's something I absolutely love doing because it allows the music to flow naturally while staying true to the couple's vision for their wedding.
One Big House Party
From the moment the first dance ended, the dancefloor didn't slow down.

It honestly felt more like an Ibiza club night than a traditional wedding reception, and I mean that in the best possible way.
The crowd knew exactly what they liked, and every transition lifted the energy another level. It was one of those nights where every track seemed to land perfectly.
Ending the Night in Style
As the evening drew to a close, there was only one way to finish.
The final track of the night came from FISHER, sending everyone home on a high after an incredible evening of dancing.
It was the perfect ending to a wedding that stayed true to Josh & Lucy's personalities from start to finish.
