What a fantastic wedding day celebrating Maddy & Stu at The Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge. Set right on the edge of the canal, The Bonded Warehouse is a distinctive wedding venue and gave the day a brilliant backdrop from the afternoon right through to the evening celebrations.

I joined Maddy & Stu from 3pm, providing music for the welcome drinks, wedding breakfast and evening reception, as well as supplying the wireless microphone for the speeches. It was a great day from start to finish and a perfect example of how the music can evolve naturally as a wedding moves from the afternoon into the main evening party.

Welcome Drinks by the Canal

The day started with the welcome drinks, with guests enjoying the relaxed atmosphere around the venue and canal. At this point, the music was all about setting the mood without taking over, giving everyone the chance to chat, enjoy a drink and settle into the day.

From there we moved into the wedding breakfast, continuing with background music while everyone enjoyed the meal.

Wedding Speeches With the Sennheiser Wireless Microphone

When it was time for the speeches, we used the Sennheiser wireless microphone system through the main sound setup. Having a professional wireless microphone makes a huge difference for wedding speeches, allowing whoever is speaking to stand comfortably while making sure everyone in the room can clearly hear what is being said.

Once the speeches were complete, it was time to turn the room into the evening party.

The Evening DJ Setup

For Maddy & Stu's wedding reception at The Bonded Warehouse, the DJ setup included FBT professional tops, four moving head lights, two LED lighting bars, the Sennheiser wireless microphone system and professional DJ and lighting control.

As the evening got darker, the moving heads and LED bars helped completely change the feel of the room and bring the dancefloor to life.

A First Dance With a Difference

Maddy & Stu chose My Chemical Romance – Summertime for their first dance. It was a brilliant choice for them and immediately set the tone for a wedding reception that definitely wasn't built around a standard wedding playlist.

Rock, Pop Punk, 80s, ABBA & 00s Throwbacks

The music throughout the evening was packed with personality. There was plenty of rock, pop punk, 80s classics, ABBA and 00s throwbacks, with the dancefloor moving through different eras and styles as the night went on.

That is always one of my favourite parts of wedding DJing. The couple's preferences give us the direction, but once the party starts, reading the room and reacting to what guests are enjoying keeps the night flowing properly.

Finishing With Queen at 11PM

After starting at 3pm and covering the welcome drinks, wedding breakfast, speeches and evening reception, we reached the last song at 11pm. The final track was Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody, giving everyone one huge final singalong and the perfect ending to a brilliant wedding day.
